One sport which has received great encouragement of late is golf. Until the arrival of professional Jim Morgan as pro to the Greenacres club, young golfers were virtually ignored and in some cases it has been suggested that older club members were quite anti-youth in golf. Some good has been done in the past by the Eagles Golfing Society of Nelson, and by the Golf Foundation, but by and large youthful golfers have received only minimal encouragement. The pic here shows Nelson professional, Jim Morgan, taking a class of Nelson club youngsters at the club course recently. Similar courses have been held at.Greenacres and Motueka. Taking part are Hugh McCully, Delwyn Valk, Steven Marshall, Mandy Low, Hamish Mackenzie and Ian Strickett.
