15-Man Rugby

Rugby writers in South Africa have praised the quality of the All Blacks' 15-man rugby. Those Nelson supporters who watched the game between Nelson Bays and New Zealand Universities can now appreciate just what this 15-man game is. The Universities turned on some of the smoothest and most dazzling Rugby it has ever been our fortune to see on Trafalgar Park. A big crowd watched awestruck as at times the black forwards surged through the Nelson defences with beautifully-controlled hand-to-hand driving rushes and then, when the drive was halted, they saw some magnificent back play. The Universities, after conceding the local side five points in as many minutes, settled down and piled on the points to win 32-5. Above - One of the Universities' stars, E. S. Taylor, keeps the attack moving forward with an up and under.
