Sixty Miles to Nowhere

A team of 45 boys in Nelson pedalled furiously for three hours one Friday night recently, and in that time clocked up a mileage of 60.8 miles. And they didn't move an inch doing it! The boys, members of Nelson companies of the Boys' Brigade, were competing against Marlborough companies in an "Exercycle" contest. Nelson won by a margin of 5.3 miles. Included in both teams were a journalist, a radio announcer, a Mayor and representatives of other organisations. Above - 2ZN personality Peter Drake is exhausted as he finishes his 1.3 miles in 4 mins.
