Winning Form

The Nelson Youth for Christ team competed with outstanding success at the annual capital teams' convention at Wellington on Queen's Birthday weekend. The instrumental group (Top Right), Bev Leibesley (piano), John Polglase, Robin Davis and Enroll Leibesley, won the open instrumental group title. Robin also won the open instrumental solo title. Of 17 teams competing, Nelson came a close second to Wellington.

The pix Above are of the group's quiz teams. At Top are Ian Dron, Janet Young, Heather Christoffersen and Lorraine-Scowen. This team won the national junior championship; Ian was the national junior champion quizzer, and Lorraine was second.

ABOVE, is the senior team which missed winning the senior quiz title by half a question. The team is Mary Frew, Ken Polglase, Merilyn Wells (senior champion quizzer) and Laurie Goodale.

The Nelson Methodist Harrier team competed with some success in the inter-Methodist Harrier Clubs' championships held in Auckland on Queen's Birthday weekend. The team was, back: Meryl and Raewyn Wastney. Front: Gavin Rodley, Kathy Clark, Denise Peters (ladies' championship), Jeffrey Norris (midget champion), Ralph Coburn and Colin Golledge.
