City Council staff and a contractor working on the bed of the Brook Stream, deepening a retaining wall, just below Seymour Avenue, in Brook Street. New walls are to be erected downstream where the old walls have been undermined.

Freak Fire. Below A cigarette which blew off a window sill on to a small sack of kindling wood is believed to have been the cause of a fire which caused minor damage to a house at 63 Collingwood Street last month. It was extinguished without any trouble.

Material deposited in Saltwater Creek in St. Vincent Street over the last four years was removed by bulldozer and grab recently.
