Scenic Route to Totaranui

A sign at the bottom of the road to Totaranui, in the Abel Tasman National Park, warns that the road is not suitable for caravans. Yet scores of caravan-towing holiday-makers made the uncomfortable trip for the opportunity of camping at Totaranui's glorious bay. The road is certainly not an easy one, but the scenery is magnificent. It would appear that if the bay's popularity increases as it has done in recent years some thought may have to be given to upgrading the road.
