The Nelson Photo News

Roamin' Around

Jim Tyrell, of Nelson, a former member of the now defunct Nelson-Marlborough West Coast Regiment, maintains his interest in matters military by collecting badges and uniforms. He has 20 uniforms, some of them extremely old and historically valuable, and scores of badges and other military impediments. He's seen here wearing the uniform of the Nelson Rifle Volunteers of about 1845 vintage. The swastika is part of a parachute division marker taken at Crete.

One of New Zealand's top pop groups, the Formyula, played in Nelson towards the end of last year. The boys, from left, are Carl Eversen, Ali Richardson, Chris Parry, Martin Hope and Wayne Mason.
