Mr Bob Macky, engineer to the Waimea County Council for the last four years, is made a presentation by county chairman, Mr Jack Borlase, when he left the County at the end of last year. Bob is to fill a similar position at Waimate. Also in the picture are the County's former engineer, Mr Ben Cooper, and Mr Peg Macky.

Another English visitor to Nelson during the festive season was Mr Daisy George who (believe it or not) celebrated her 80th birthday with her daughter, Mr Una Edgecumbe, and son-in-law, Valletort Edgecumbe, at their home at 393 Main Road, Stoke.
