The smiling faces of Dick Knapp and Richard Berry, automotive electricians with Joseph Lucas and Son. Dick, who has been with the firm four years, is an A-Grade automotive electrician, and has lived in Nelson all his life. He's married, with two girls, and is a keen shooter. Richard is in his first year of his apprenticeship and came to New Zealand from London in 1967. He was educated at Nayland College, and for fun plays records.

This happy face belongs to Kaye Smith, a typist-clerk with the Nelson Fruitgrowers' Federation. Kaye comes from Richmond and was educated at Waimea College. She plays basketball and softball and digs pop music. She can also play the piano and the electric organ.

Vera Bennett (managaress) and Rosemary Christieson (receptionist) at the Hotel Nelson. Vera is married, has two boys, and she and hubby, Wilf, originally came from Yorkshire 20 years ago. For fun Vera likes a game of golf when she has time. Rosemary came to Nelson from Hamilton, her first trip to the mainland. She's single and is keen on marching, sewing and reading.

Applying the elbow grease are Don Pepperell and Tom Burton, cabinet makers with the Russell Manufacturing Co, and acting as polishers at the time this pic was taken. Don is married and came from England and was with the Forest Service before joining the company. His hobbies include horse riding, sailing, languages (he speaks three not including Kiwi) and oil painting. Tom was born and bred in Nelson and is still single. He's been with the firm a year (his second spell). He backs a few horses, does some shooting and follows sport.
