Nelson commenced the cricket season on the right note, beating North Canterbury by 158 runs on the first innings. Nelson scored 349 for 5 wickets declared, to North Canterbury's 191. Graeme Lowans and Barry Hampton both scored centuries for Nelson. These pix were taken during the North Canterbury innings. Centre right: P. J. McKay is bowled by Tony Beatson. Right: G. W. Stone hit his wicket when on 67, also a victim of Beatson.
