Fireworks Night at Wakefield

Some people don't need an excuse to enjoy themselves and spend some money frivolously, but an excuse does help. Guy Fawkes is the excuse on November 5 for everyone, young and old, to indulge in a little fun with fireworks. As the Wakefield Volunteer Fire Brigade held its Guy contest and fireworks carnival at Wakefield. And, as usual, we were on hand to cover something of the fun and games.

Absolutely intent on making sure fuses are lit properly are Cheryl and Gary Scott and Simone Skipper. At left, Roger Neame's having a marvellous time with a sparkler.

The look of anticipation on the face of Carl Ellery as dad lights his sparkler is surely proof that the kiddies get tremendous enjoyment from this night.
