Rivals clinched the senior Rugby championship with power displays against Celtic and then Nelson. Incidents in the Nelson game. Graeme Lummis won the Nelson district golf championship when he beat veteran golfer Reg Ford 4 and 3 in the final. Although the highest honour went to Lummis, the highlight of the tournament was the play of Ford. In getting to the final he disposed of low handicappers Murray Gyde and Iain Duffy.
