Nelson Golf Titles
Nelson Freyberg Rosebowl representative Murray Gyde (left) won the Nelson provincial stroke play championship, when he picked up a second stroke on Des Maley (Motueka) during the last of the three rounds. Until the 17th Haley appeared to have a great chance to take the title, but he was short off the tee and dropped two strokes on the hole and another on the last to finish with a 78 and a total of 234 for the round. Gyde had a last round of 77 and a total 232.
Maley, Ken Jones (Nelson) and Hugh Williams wait at the 17th.
Murray Shirtliff appears anxious.
A chance of a par for Brian Vicceli (Greymouth).
John Vessey, also anxious.
Supporters, Alec Giblin, Ira Higgins (greenkeeper) and Doreen Giblin.
