The girl behind the big smile is Lorraine Parkin, a photographic assistant at the Peter Cooper Studio. Lorraine, who is 17, joined the studio staff nearly five months ago. She was educated at Waimea College and her interests include tramping, horse riding and reading.

Ash Schwass, a brewery hand at Nelson Breweries, is a pretty well-known bloke around Nelson. He's been on the job 18 years, is married with four children, and if he's not gardening, tape recording or at the races in his spare time, you'll find him old-time dancing.

Mention swimming and the first name that springs to mind is Stuart Moorhouse, manager of the Wakefield Metal Company. Stuart comes from Nelson pioneer stock, is married with three children. He's devoted considerable time to the furtherance of swimming in Nelson and is a life member of the Nelson centre and the Nelson South club. He is also president of the Nelson College Old Boys' Association. A busy man.

The boy with the golden voice, Joseph Paul, is also well-known around Nelson. Joe is an engineer's assistant at the Nelson City Council, and has been on the job four years. He's married, with seven children. His interests include singing (and boyoboy, can he), entertaining, tennis, badminton and Rugby (he was a Maori All Black trial-ist).

Wee Julieanne arrived on the scene five months ago to delight Len and Jean Hurren, proprietors of the Harlequin Milk Bar. Julieanne is their fourth child (they also have two grand-children). They've been in Nelson nine years, coming from Blenheim. Both like boating, fishing and gardening.
