Very interested in the power game are Jack Currie and Reg Dav-ies, members of the staff of the Waimea Power Board. Jack is an electrical apprentice and has been with the board two years. He's single and in his spare moments "mucks about" with his car. Ray is in charge of the transformer room and is married, with two children. He returned to Nelson from Wellington 2½ years ago and at the moment is breaking in a new section and a new house.

Gordon Beach is another employee of Wilkes Ltd. He's a machinist and has been with the firm about 10 years. He's married, with a family of three, and has been a member of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Brigade for 15 years (we hear there's been a Beach in the brigade from the time it was formed). His main interest is gardening.

Two members of the Richmond Post Office staff are Gail McDonald and Cleone Reed, telephonist-typists. Gail, who is 16, has been at the office 7 months. She was educated at Waimea College and originally came from Havelock. Her interests include water skiing, music and hiking. Cleone is 18 and comes from Sandy Bay. She's been with the department at Richmond for eighteen months. She's keen on sewing and swimming.

He's married, with three children, and while overseas with the 1st Echelon during World War ii, was put in the bag in Greece (thence to Stalag 18A for the duration). He's a keen gardener and a committee member of the Richmond Y.M.C.A.

At Richmond we also met a couple of housewives and their children. They were Nerella Taylor (with Gregory and Dianna) and Heather Gillard (with Jeanette and Denise). Nerella has four children and is a keen gardener. Originally she's from Motueka and from Wakefield. Heather is mother of four girls and came from Christchurch four years ago. She also likes her gardening.
