The Ngatapa Country Women's Institute's display at the Poverty Bay Horticultural Society's annual chrysanthemum show at the Army hall. The display was entitled "Good Housekeeping" and consisted of preserves, copperware, maize, pumpkins, and a wide variety of produce.

The voluntary work done by The Gisborne Jaycees at Kaiti Beach has been wrecked by vandals. Their concrete barbeque fireplace has been damaged beyond repair and the area is a jumble of wreckage and broken glass. Because of this disconcerting vandalism, the Jaycees have decided to abandon the project.
