Animal Oddities

About six months ago, misfortune befell Mr and Mrs H. Dover's show dachshund "Monty". His hind legs were paralysed. He could still drag himself around, using his fore legs for the job, and the family made him leggings to protect his hind legs. Then they thought up a better idea......a little chariot to support Monty's rear end. Now he can really travel about the family home at 119 Fox Street. Here is Monty and his chariot, and

wearing the leggings but minus his wheels.

Call a cat a kleptomaniac and it would probably just go on washing-- but that is what this cat is. To his owners, Mr and Mrs A. J. Vagg, 452 Aberdeen Road, he's a bit of a nuisance. Every night he comes home with some-thing, and every day they have the job of returning articles to indulgent neighbours...towels, jerseys, sox, and all manner of other things.

This Aberdeen Angus calf was born on Te Rimu Station at Motu last year, with one front leg and shoulder missing. Mrs Trafford reports that in spite of this, it can run as fast as any other calf.
