Competitions Festival

The district's best vocalists, dancers, instrumentalists and elocutionists, swelled in numbers by visiting artists from other parts of the country, converged on the Opera House in the first week of the school holidays for the annual festival of the Gisborne Competitions Society.

Eleanor Burns, cellist, who gained highest points in the festival, winning the Orchestral Instrumental Solo. With her is the official accompanist, Mrs T. Berry.
