Williams Wins Title Fight

In a split decision after 15 closely-contested rounds, Jimmy Williams, of Gisborne, won the New Zealand professional welterweight boxing title. He fought for the vacant crown against Heinie Forsyth of Wellington, in the Wanganui War Memorial Hall.

Williams looked a little jaded in the 10th and 11th rounds and clinches were fairly frequent. However from the start of the 12th to the end of the fight he was just a bundle of go..and he really piled on the points. Forsyth seems to be watching for an opening here.
