Ormond Dip Road

The road reconstruction work in the Ormond Dip of raising the road level has reached approximately the half-way mark. Earth from a nearby hillside is being placed on the old road, forming a bank on which the new road runs.

This project, when completed, should satisfactorily solve the flooding problem which has closed the road during major floods.

This work is being done by two "carryalls" seen at right coming down the hill towards the road after collecting their loads. When deposited, the earth is rolled and graded until it is firm enough to withstand the strain of traffic.
