Our Cover

Autumn colours are the theme of our colour covers for this issue. On the front cover we reproduce a picture taken in Riverside Road, near the Lister Hospital, looking down the Waimata River, with houses in Score Road at left, beyond which is Anzac Park.

The back cover, taken by courtesy of Mr Hugh Isaac from the lawn in front of his home, shows another Waimata view, this time of the new Morris Convalescent Home over the river, framed by autumn tints.

One of the best exhibitions of riding at the rodeo on Queen's Birthday Saturday was given throughout the day by Clive Jones, of Waerenga-a-hika, who was the chief pick-off rider for the day, mounted on Mr J. Sullivan's "Messana", Here Clive and "Messana" put on a show for the camera, with only one hoof on the ground.
