Mr Fred Sparrow, de Lautour Road, Gisborne.....This is how the Botanical Gardens looked in the good old days when the poplars fronted the Taruheru River, the bandstand was in pride of place, and music-lovers sat around the garden plots listening to a concert given by the Municipal Band.
