Hill Climb Records Fall
The Gisborne Car Club held another successful hill climb recently when six records were broken. Competition was keen with each of the twenty entrants having four electrically timed runs. Heavy shingle on the corners caused some spectacular slides, but this did not seem to prevent the cars from attaining good times.
Outstanding competitors of the day were Terry Johnstone, who lowered the hill record to 51.5 seconds in his Satellite Special, and Gordon Fraser, who is the first driver to take two records at one meeting.
John Stewart and his supercharged Ford Special l500-2000cc sports record of 55.3 seconds.
