Interport Sports

Cricket, bowls, golf and darts contests engaged teams drawn from the port workers of Auckland, New Plymouth, Napier, Wellington and Gisborne at the annual inter-port sports tournament held at Gisborne last month. Although Auckland won the outdoor bowls, New Plymouth the cricket, and Napier the indoor bowls fours, Gisborne annexed the Quigley Cup, up for competition for the first time, by gaining most points in the aggregate, with notable wins at golf, darts, and indoor bowls.
