River Race

Gisborne Club swimmers churned up the waters of three rivers, the Waimata, Taruheru, and Turanganui, during a short (200yds) river race held recently from the William Pettie bridge to the Gladstone Road bridge.

Never before had so many swimmers swum so few yards in so many rivers. The winners, at right, were S. Wauchop first, J. Page second, and Judith Buckingham third. On handicap the race was won by Barbara Thompson.
