Tough on the Jersey!

Key match to decide the senior Rugby competition was played last month between Marist and Old Boys. Had Old Boys won, the title was theirs. But Marist won, and the honours went to G.M.C. (See picture on next page.

Old Boys proved no match for Marist on the day, Perhaps their tackling was too poor or something. The camera, focussed on Marist's Brian Johnson as he streaked for the line, suggests that this might be so.

Brian, ball in arm, meets with opposition at shoulder level from Jimmy Agnew. Players, left to right, are John Leahy, Rangi Josephs, Brian Johnson (Marist), Jimmy Agnew (OB), Henry Maxwell, Pat Ransley, Frank Atkins, Dale Mackey (Marist), Charlie Chauvel, J. Dolman (OB), G. Pepere, B. Donovan, D. Fee, A. Rowlands (Marist).

Watch that jersey S-T-R-E-T-C-H-: Jimmy might be driving that horse to market: And you can't say Brian isn't tryin'!

It's a try....or is it? Brian goes over with Charlie on top of him, and.... yes, that's Jimmy still there at the back.

But referee Wiley rules otherwise. Results: One torn jersey, no try.

Another shot from the game, Doug Fee goes up high in a lineout.
