Roving Camera

There are not many "firsts" left in the hills, but here is one of them. A Gisborne team, from the Youth Hostel branch, recently climbed Mt. Hikurangi and slept on top for the night.

The chairman of the Matakaoa County Council, Mr S. Rudland, and Mrs Rudland, pictured at their farewell at Te Araroa before leaving to reside in Gisborne. They spent 42 years in the district.

Mr F. Tolerton, retiring manager at the Freezing Works, maintained a strict ban on smoking while meat was being handled, and this was the subject of many humorous references at his farewell functions, at one of which this cartoon caused a laugh.

Rama White, Gisborne-born entertainer with the Howard Morrison Show, finds her size is no handicap. She weighs 18 stone 10 pounds.
