Flying Scholarship

About 30 entries were received for the "Coca Cola" Flying Scholarship conducted by the Gisborne Aero Club in recent weeks. The prize, providing free tuition up to private pilot standard, was won by Bob Dalglish, of Gisborne. On the day that the award was announced, Bob went up for a trial flight in the club's Two-place Champion training plane with the club's president, Mr Ted Mitchell, as pilot. The photograph above was taken from another plane piloted by the club's instructor, Peter Kearins, as the Champion, with Bob aboard, cruised over Tuahine Island, with Young Nick's Head in the background.
