Hockey "Double"

When Hawkes Bay representative men's hockey teams visited Gisborne last month, honours went to Poverty Bay in both senior and junior matches. The games were played on the "wet Saturday", when most playing fields looked like lakes, but except for a muddy patch in the middle of the field, the hockey players had good conditions.

Tallow For The Far East

In the colts hockey match, Poverty Bay won 2 to 1. Gisborne players in this piece of play (light jerseys) are from left, P. Foo, B. Slade, W. Horsfall, and G. Paul.

The Dutch freighter Tjiliwong, berthed at the channel wharf at Gisborne, loaded hundreds of drums of tallow for the Far East.
