Traffic Training
Gisborne children learned a great deal about traffic behaviour last week when the "Shell Traffic Trainer" came to the city. The unit, donated by Shell Oil, consists of a set of miniature streets, complete with intersections, compulsory stops, pedestrian crossings, etc., and a small fleet of pedal-cars and bicycles.
Set up on the tarmac at Central School, it proved to be an ideal method of training children in traffic behaviour. In the pedal-cars, they learnt something of the motorist's problems.
Picture above shows a demonstration in progress before an interested gallery of school children, traffic authorities, and parents.
