Cadet Competitions

Teams from Wainui and Gisborne took part recently in St. John Ambulance competitions. These pictures were taken as the teams and examiners were busy on the Taruheru river banks adjacent to the St. John hall.

No, this is not another Mayoral Go-Kart Race. It is a Vice-Regal party visiting Gisborne in 1907, and lined up outside the Masonic Hotel ready for a motor jaunt into the country. The Governor General of the time was Lord Plunket. (Picture from R. W. Halbert).
