In this picture there are three "Joe Martins", a name as well-known in Gisborne as "Gladstone Road." They are veteran Joe, at left (now 91 years of age), his grandson, Joseph John (aged 7, son of Mr and Mrs F. J. Martin), and Joseph Richard, son of "Old Joe" and uncle of "Young Joe". He was home recently on holiday from Newcastle (Australia), where he is engineer in charge of repairs and maintenance of dredges for all ports in N.S.W., except Sydney.
