Another Distinction

Gisborne is distinguished for a number of things, such as being the first landing-place of Captain Cook, and having had the only battery trams in the country. Now the State Housing Department has found that it has the worst conditions in the country for foundations. In the Fitzgerald block at Kaiti it has been found necessary to design special foundations for multi-unit houses. Here concrete is being poured by Finch and Froude, the builders, in a special over-all concrete floor, which is supported by a 4ft continuous foundation.
