More New Citizens
Eleven people of foreign nationality became naturalised as British subjects and citizens of New Zealand at a ceremony held recently in the City Council Chambers.
Three were Dutchmen, one was an Italian, and seven were Chinese.
Most have been in Gisborne for many years.
Familiar figure is Ah Wun, who has been in the vegetable trade about the country areas for a long time. He approached formal ritual of ceremony in good spirits, is seen here receiving his papers and the congratulations of the Mayor, Mr Barker.
Another of those naturalised, Mrs Yuen Chan is congratulated after the ceremony, with her husband, by Mr L. N. Ritchie, S. M.
