Butler's Wall Completed

At an informal ceremony this month, the last barrow-load of concrete was poured into Butler's Wall by the chairman of the Gisborne Harbour Board, Mr I. J. Quigley.

This marked the completion of over four years of work by the Board's outside staff, and the expenditure of £118,000, of which £68,000 came from revenue and £50,000 from loan money. The engineer's estimate of the contract price was £159,000, so that there has been a considerable saving.
