Takitimu Sea Scouts and helpers are shown above demolishing a building on the Reads Quay riverbank which in its heyday was associated with passenger traffic to and from Gisborne by sea. The building was later used by the R.S.A. as a basket-making factory, when the R.S.A. took over as clubrooms the original waterside workers' rooms. The sea scouts will now have the use of the R.S.A. rooms, and with timber from this building will carry out alterations and extensions to fit their new premises to their needs. At left, Group Scoutmaster Keith Redstone and helpers are at work recovering timber. At right, Gary Moles trimming a window frame.
