Shield Basketball

The annual tournament for the Kathleen Henderson & Patsy Burke shields saw both trophies leave the district. Paroa (Whakatane) won the former, and Greendale (Napier) won the latter.

Runners-up were Paikea (Gisborne) and Te Karaka.

Incidents in the Greendale-Te Karaka game. On their way home in the railcar, three of the Greendale girls were injured when a boulder struck the railcar at Beach Loop.
