Mucosal Disease

Happily, dairy farmers in the Gisborne area escaped the losses and horrors of mucosal disease, which caused such frightening cattle losses in the Wairarapa, but the Department of Agriculture is still in the dark as to the nature of the virus which causes the disease, and warns that outbreaks could occur anywhere.

These pictures, taken on "Tawaha", Martinborough, and made available by Mr R. Lange, formerly of Gisborne, show a beast in the final stages of the disease.
