There was a good attendance when the first "get-together" was held of the cast of the Operatic Society's forthcoming show, "Oklahoma!" Originally the society proposed to produce "Kismet" this year, but a number of difficulties intervened, and after some discussion Rogers and Hammerstein's well-known musical comedy was selected.

The duck-shooting season in Gisborne started off poorly, but some good bags have been heard of more recently. A Saturday's shooting produced this bag of six pheasants and two pukekos for Bill Ball and Charlie Borlase, of Gisborne.
