Roving Camera
All that was left of the Muriwai Post Office and Store after fire swept the building early this month. A week after this picture was taken, a new building had been erected and the owner, Mr Jack McDonald, was in business again.
The store fire was the second in 12 months. This picture shows the temporary bar of the Muriwai Hotel, which was completely destroyed by fire on September 30, 1958.
School holiday weather this year was not of the best, as many a harassed mother was well aware. But occasional days were fine, and here two schoolboys idly watch the dredge at work in the harbour basin.
