Exacting Test for Cyclists

Most boys own bikes these days, especially in suitably flat places like Gisborne, and so one of the most popular events of the year in the Boys1 Brigade is the annual Cycle Rally. The boys line up by the dozen, are given explicit instructions about times and routes, have their machines check ed by an officer of the Transport Department, and then off they go. They have a lot of fun, and on the way learn something about route finding, running repairs, and the countryside.
