Burton Bowls Surprise

A dramatic victory by G. P. Weatherley's Kahutia four in the final of this years Burton Cup Jubilee Tournament had onlookers on their toes right up to the final moment.

When the pictures on this page were taken, at the afternoon tea break, W. J. Langlands' Oisbome four were in the lead by 18 to 5, and the result looked to be o foregone conclusion.

But after tea, the Kahutia team pulled up from a 20 to 6 handicap to 25-2, at the last head. Then they scored another two, one of which was decided by a measure, to take the trophy, 26-25.

It was an exciting gome.
