The new Rangitira bridge across the Waipaoa River at Te Karaka will replace the present suspension bridge. Picture shows tall concrete piers which will carry steel girders of new bridge, with the old structure in the background.
New bridge will be more than 400ft long, and 40ft high. Contractors are J. H. Williamson Ltd., Christ church.
Picture at left indicates height of the decking from river. At right, the suspension bridge, which was completely renovated in 1942.
