Candle-lighting Ceremony

Every year the Gisborne Businesswomen's Club hold what is known as a candle-lighting ceremony. The occasion is an international one, in which similar clubs throughout the world are blessed and remembered. This thoughtful gesture is symbolised by the lighting of a candle for each country in which the clubs flourish. It is a measure of the universality of the movement that so many candles feature in the ceremony,

Gisborne's club, formed a few years ago, has a large membership consisting of business and professional women. The "international" meeting this year was addressed by Mr W. H. Way'
