High School Scrap Metal Drive Successful

The grounds of the Gisborne Boy's High School are, as a general rule, clean and orderly. The old order of things, however, was waived, when the school grounds were burdened with sufficent scrap metal to stock a full-sized junk yard.

The school's recent scrap metal drive resulted in the acquisition of over 80 tons of metal, the proceeds from the sale of which will be donated to the memorial pavilion building fund.

As can be seen from the pictures, the collection included such unlikely partners as ploughshares and car engine blocks, motor cycles and even a traction engine.
