Mr and Mrs D. A. Mehrtens, Foster Street, who recently returned to Christchurch, their home city, after having lived for some fourteen years in Gisborne. They are pictured here with their three children, Gloria, Rodney and Trevor. Gloria was a student at the Intermediate School, while Rodney and Trevor attended the Central School.

There is little doubt that Gisborne is fast becoming more and more boat-minded. Proof may be found in this grass model of fast speedboat which recently adorned Ormond Road. After the City Council mowers had trimmed the roadside, Murray Lindsay's fertile imagination got to work to create this sleek sea demon.

A unique accident that befell one of Gisborne's fastest and most colourful boats, Mr Rex Lane's "Las Vegas". When the trailer came adrift from the towing truck, the boat ploughed into the nearest telegraph pole, to result in this phenomenal study.
