School Pool

After more than ten years of planning and hard work by committees and numerous outside organizations the dream of a Gisborne Intermediate School swimming pool has at last become a reality.

Named the McGlashen Pool after the longtime principal of the school, Mr R. N. McGlashen, it was officially declared open by the Minister of Education, Mr P. O. S. Skoglund.

A special tribute was paid to Mr McGlashen, guest-of-honour at the function, whose driving force initiated the project, enlisted the enthusiasm of many workers and contributors, and has resulted now in Gisborne possessing one of the finest swimming baths in the country.
