The "Junior" Olympians

A Junior Olympians team, comprising top players from secondary schools throughout New Zealand, were defeated by the Gisborne Boys' High School, 19-11. The game provided one of the finest displays of Rugby seen on Rugby Park this season.

Although the visitors had superiority in the backs, the home team's combination and forward play gave them the advantage.

This is the first time a Junior Olympians team has been assembled. After the success of this game, the proceeds from which go to the Old Students' Building Fund, it is hoped to make it an annual fixture.

Following the successful Junior Olympians game past players in Gisborne High School first fifteens, gathered for a reunion smoko.

It was interesting to note that four fathers and sons were present who had all represented the school in their schooldays.
