Band on Location

Consistent with their new policy of "bringing the music to the people" the Gisborne Municipal Band is now likely to be found in all sorts of places on Sunday afternoons, providing band music "on the spot" for those who are unable to visit them.

Their first Sunday visit under this new scheme was to Ward Six of Cook Hospital, where they provided the inmates with a pleasant afternoon's entertainment.

To date the band has played at the hospital and Pensioners' Flats. Future venues; Memorial Home and Dunblane.

When the band visited the pensioners ' flats in Lytton Road, it was a moot point as to who was receiving the most entertainment.

Cars were lining the street and the audience included music lovers of all ages: from those to whom the old melodies played would bring back many memories, to young toddlers for whom the music would be refreshingly new.
