"They Came To A City"
The Gisborne Little Theatre's latest production, this J. B. Priestley play, was a credit to all associated with it.
Written in 1942 and first produced in 1943, "They Came to a City" is no less topical now than it was then, expressing as it does now hopes and fears of a post-war world, as viewed through the eyes of various classes of British society, from the landed gentry and the hard-headed businessman, to the labourer and the dear old char-lady.
Mary Woosey and Max Cotter, who played Dorothy & Malcolm Stritton.
Roxina Spencer (Philippa Loxfield) and Nell Wallen (Mrs Batley).
Myra Muis the imperious Lady Loxfield.
Ian Spencer and Ruth White played the principal roles of Joe Dinmore, a disillusioned seaman, and Alice Foster, a tart with a brain.
Bill Wilkie (Cudworth) and Lyn McKnight (Sir George Gedney).
